There are many ways to create jump rings. You can purchase tools that will spin wire for you, which is wonderful! But if you’re just starting out and you need an inexpensive “mandrel” for your little jump rings… find yourself a crochet hook! Watch how I do it in this vid!

I actually find that I can make more rings faster using a cordless drill and a knitting needle, that way I have the full length of the knitting needle to make rings. I use this way because I have to have a lot of rings fast as I make chain jewelry as a hobby and sell it when there’s an interest. You can check some of the things I’ve done by searching Spoticai Chain on Facebook. One question I had was how you go about creating a “fire scale” effect on a ring, or any metal for that matter.

Ooh knitting needle is an Excellent idea! I’ll be posting more vids soon on how to oxidize for an antiqued look… I will work on a tutorial on how to give a burnt or fire scaled effect to a piece as well! (ps… I’m on my way to check out your work now!)
